Statement of Faith

The team connected to TimTyler.faith believes the same as the vast majority of evangelical churches. Below you will find our formal statement of faith (the same statement adopted by the National Association of Evangelicals.)

What you especially need to know, is that we use the Bible a lot because we believe God has preserved it through all this time so He can guide us. We believe the Bible is a very special source of wisdom. There’s nothing spooky about that, but it is spiritual as well as intellectual.

Also, we believe that we can pray and be heard by God. We don’t think that picking the right words makes a difference. Communicating with God  doesn’t depend on the right words; it takes the right heart.

We believe love is the most important thing. God wants us to love Him, to love our neighbor, and to love other believers. We’re saved only by grace through faith, but faith isn’t as great as Love (“now abide faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love.”) In Scripture, God even reserved a word for this kind of unconditional love from God: Agape. We believe we are to live our lives expressing Agape, just as Jesus did.

Just to be clear, we are saved from the coming final judgment when we believe in Jesus. Simple, wholehearted belief in Jesus leads us to a completely new life. We dedicate ourselves because He has loved us so much.

Consider this passage from the Gospel of John:

 John 3 (NKJV)

14) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

15) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Look at Titus 3 (NLT) as well:

3) Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
4) But—when God our Savior revealed His kindness and love,
5) He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
6) He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
7) Because of His grace He declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”
